Youth Programs
S.T.A.R After School Program - The Successfully Teaching Academic Readiness (S.T.A.R) After-school program is held at the Decatur Housing Authority's Community Resource Center, located at 481 Electric Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030, and Trinity Walk Community Center located at 421 W Trinity Pl, Decatur, GA 30030 which is within ¼ mile walking distance for participants. DHA has operated this program since 1992! This program serves 92 low-income kindergarten through 8th grade students residing in the Swanton Heights, Allen Wilson, and Trinity Walk Communities, owned and managed by the Housing Authority. The STAR After-school program operates 34 weeks in concordance with the schedule for the City Schools of Decatur. Tutoring, homework, reading, and enrichment classes supplement the curriculum daily. Staffing consists of seven certified teachers, one technology instructor, Four full time and one part-time Housing Authority employees. Food service is outsourced through City of Decatur School system and funded by the Decatur Housing Authority.

S.T.A.R Summer Academic Camp
Intensive five-week Math and Science instructional program for rising third grade through middle school students. Classes are designed to help youth retain and enhance their knowledge during the summer. Field trips and other enrichment activities are integrated into the program as a fun and creative approach to learning. Our camps also participate in the USDA Free Summer Meals Program.
