The pictures on the left depict Spring Pointe's renovation which was completed in 1994 through the Affordable Housing Corporation of DeKalb. 65 units of affordable rental housing were returned to first-class condition. The Housing Authority, of the City of Decatur and DeKalb County all worked together to see that this vacant apartment complex (formerly Oakview Terrace) was completely renovated and available for rent starting in early 1994. Using various funding sources, including DeKalb County HOME funds, the comprehensive renovation provides quality rental housing at affordable rents. All 65 units were quickly rented and the complex continues to be leased under the ownership of Decatur Housing Authority.
Spring Pointe's open landscaped community provides much needed quality rental housing in Decatur at rates affordable to Decatur's workforce. Spring Pointe has helped in Decatur's ongoing revitalization. Today Spring Pointe Apartments offers many special activities for its residents, including a National Night Out Celebration on the First Tuesday in August each year, a home buying seminar, and a courtesy officer using local police as residents.
